XOVIS 3D sensors is helping Luton Airport track passenger flow
Swiss-based Xovis has won a competitive tender to equip boarding pass and security checkpoints with Xovis 3D sensors and software solutions at London Luton Airport (LLA). Measuring KPIs such as queue lengths, waiting and process times, London Luton Airport will use the data gathered by the Xovis system to streamline planning and processes.

Xovis 3D sensors to count and track passengers anonymously are mounted on the ceiling. Passengers are recognised individually even if they are only 18 cm/ 7 in. away from each other. The software connects an unlimited number of sensors and visualises the measured KPIs on real-time dashboards. LLA will deploy 24 Xovis 3D sensors, featuring automated queue detection.
Along with the five other London airports Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, London City and Southend, Luton Airport is part of the busiest airport system in the world by passenger numbers, handling more than 160 million passengers every year.
London Luton Airport is one of the UK’s largest airports and carried 14.5 million passengers in 2016, an increase of 18.5% on 2015. The airport indirectly employs over 9,400 staff and is a crucial economic driver for the region.
